CBAT and the Tamkin Foundation
The Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams (CBAT) and the Minor Planet Center shared computers generously donated by the Tamkin Foundation of Los Angeles from about 1998 until 2010, forming the Tamkin Foundation Computing Network. With the CBAT's move from the SAO to EPS/Harvard in 2010, this Network has now been extended to the CBAT's presence at EPS/Harvard, with the Tamkin Foundation providing a generous gift to purchase an OpenVMS computer and supporting equipment along with two linux webservers, an Apple iMac, and scanners/printers.The CBAT gratefully acknowledges a donation by the SAO of an older VMS computer in the move from SAO to EPS/Harvard, as well as other computer support during the transition during Feb.-Aug. 2010 from SAO to the EPS Department. While the new computers were being purchased and set up at EPS, the CBAT continued to operate on the MPC/Tamkin computers at SAO.
