Papenkova and W. Li report the LOTOSS discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images on May 22.3 (mag about 18.8) and 23.3 UT (mag about 18.9). SN 2003el is located at R.A. = 13h09m46s.20, Decl. = +28 54'21".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 16".7 west and 2".7 south of the nucleus of NGC 5000. KAIT images on Apr. 19.3 (limiting mag about 19.0), and Mar. 7.3 (limiting mag about 19.6) showed nothing at this position.
