Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 15.8 +/- 0.3) on unfiltered CCD images taken on May 12.80 UT and confirmed on June 7.758 (brightness unchanged) with a 0.30-m reflector. SN 2004cb is located at R.A. = 13h43m48s.52, Decl. = -29o44'59".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 10" west and 21" south of the nucleus of an edge-on galaxy. The new object is absent on the red Digitized Sky Survey field (limiting mag 20), on an image taken by Monard on 2004 Apr. 16.814 (limiting mag 18.5), and on earlier images taken by himself.
