Madison, M. Baek, and W. Li report the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images taken on Sept. 19.48 (at mag 18.7) and 25.47 UT (mag 16.0). SN 2005el is located at R.A. = 5h11m48s.72, Decl. = +5o11'39".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is 39".0 east and 22".6 south of the nucleus of NGC 1819. A KAIT image taken on Sept. 14.50 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 19).
