Anupama, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, report that a spectrogram (range 350-720 nm) of SN 2005lt (cf. IAUC 8645), obtained on Dec. 16.01 UT with the Indian Astronomical Observatory's 2-m Himalayan Chandra Telescope (+ HFOSC) shows it to be a type-Ia supernova. The expansion velocity, derived from the minimum of Si II (rest wavelength 635.5 nm), and adopting the NED recession velocity of 5974 km/s for the host galaxy (from Haynes et al. 1997, A.J. 113, 1197), is about 7500 km/s.
