Li reports the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 18.1) on an unfiltered KAIT image taken on Dec. 25.35 UT. SN 2005md is located at R.A. = 6h47m19s.11, Decl.= +33 34'24".9 (equinox 2000.0), which is 21".8 east and 22".9 north of the nucleus of NGC 2274. The new object was confirmed at mag about 18.0 on an unfiltered image taken with the 0.8-m THCA-NAOC Telescope (see CBET 331) at the Xing-long Station of the National Astronomical Observatory of China by X.-F. Wang and F.-Y. Bian on Dec. 25.86. A KAIT image taken on Dec. 10.40 showed nothing at the positon of 2005md (limiting mag about 19.5).
