Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.5 +/- 0.3) on images taken with a 0.30-m Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector on Dec. 23; the new object is located at R.A. = 1h30m09s.22, Decl. = -42o41'07".0 (equinox 2000.0), which is 41" east and 3" north of the nucleus of ESO 244-31. SN 2005me is not visible on a red image of the Digitized Sky Survey (limiting mag 20.5). Unfiltered CCD magnitudes of 2005me from Monard's images: Dec. 2.93 UT, [18.7; 23.781, 17.5; 23.806, 17.5; 26.760, 17.6. Note that this is the same galaxy in which SN 2005Q occurred.
