E. van den Ancker, European Southern Observatory (ESO), report the following magnitudes regarding the fading of the young eruptive star V1647 Ori (cf. IAUC 8284), made with the Very Large Telescope (+ FORS2): 2004 Dec. 20.262 UT, B = 21.9, R = 17.5, I = 16.1; 2006 Jan. 2.256, B > 24.9 (not detected), R = 21.3, I = 18.9 (measured in a 3"-diameter aperture). Mid-infrared observations with the ESO 3.6-m telescope (+ TIMMI2) show that on 2006 Jan. 11.170, V1647 Ori had a brightness at 12 microns of 0.9 Jy, compared to 7.6 Jy on 2004 March 8.015. This confirms the reports by Kopal et al. (2005, IBVS 5661) and by Aspin and Reipurth and others (IAUC 8600, 8681) that the eruption of V1647 Ori is ending.
