Puckett and A. Pelloni report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 15.8) on CCD images taken with a 0.60-m reflector at Ellijay, GA, on Apr. 23.342 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object is located at R.A. = 18h39m58s.88, Decl. =+39o58'56".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 2".9 east and 2".0 north of the center of NGC 6685. SN 2006bq was confirmed at mag 15.7 by A. Sehgal with a 0.50-m reflector at Osoyoos, BC, on Apr. 24.461. Nothing is visible at this location on images taken by Puckett on 2005 Aug. 8 (limiting mag 19.7).
