CBET 542), obtained on June 10.6 UT with the Supernova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2-m telescope, reveals that it is a type-II supernova, showing characteristic hydrogen Balmer P-Cyg profiles. The maximum ejection velocity, measured from the blue absorption wing of H-alpha, is about 12000 km/s. NGC 7316 has z = 0.0185 (Giovanelli and Haynes, 1993, A.J. 105, 1271; via NED).
