SUPERNOVA 2006ec IN MCG -04-55-14
     A. V. Filippenko, M. Moore, T. N. Steele, and R. Chornock, University
of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range
330-1040 nm), obtained on Aug. 18 UT with the Shane 3-m reflector (+ Kast
spectrograph) at Lick Observatory, shows that SN 2006ec (cf. IAUC 8736)
is of type Ib, roughly 2 weeks past maximum brightness.
