Kirshner, and P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics; and T. Matheson, National Optical Astronomy Observatory, report that a spectrum (range 350-740 nm) of SN 2006jd (cf. CBET 673), obtained on Oct. 17.51 UT by E. Mamajek with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-IIb supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra indicates that 2006jd is similar to SN 1993J at 11 days past explosion (Matheson et al. 2000, A.J. 120, 1487; see the following URL for a comparison plot: http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/oir/Research/supernova/spectra/sn2006jd_comp.gif).
