Wong, A. V. Filippenko, and R. Chornock, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 330-1050 nm), obtained on Dec. 1 UT with the Shane 3-m telescope (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that 2006ow (cf. CBET 759) is a type-Ia supernova, roughly 2 weeks past maximum brightness. SN 2006qo (cf. CBET 763) is probably of type Ia, as well, roughly 1 week before maximum brightness, but the object is heavily reddened. Perhaps the best match is with a pre-maximum spectrum of SN 1999aa (Garavini et al. 2004, A.J. 128, 387). Removing the recession velocity of 9120 km/s found from the host-galaxy spectrum, the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption trough is blueshifted by 11100 km/s. A very noisy spectrum of 2006qn (cf. CBET 763) suggests that it is a type-II supernova, with broad H-alpha emission present.
