Ganeshalingam, M. Moore, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 330-1050 nm), obtained on Dec. 20 UT with the Lick 3-m telescope (+ Kast), shows that 2006sr (cf. IAUC 8784) is a type-Ia supernova, a few days before maximum brightness. Removing the recession velocity of 7260 km/s determined from host-galaxy narrow emission lines, the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption trough is blueshifted by 12500 km/s.
