Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, report that a spectrum (range 350-740 nm) of 2007H (cf. CBET 806), obtained on Jan. 17.36 UT by P. Berlind with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova around 2 weeks past maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of type-Ia supernova spectra indicates that SN 2007H is most similar to SN 1989B (cf. IAUC 4727) at 13 days past maximum. Narrow emission lines are detected from the host galaxy (whose 2MASX position is given as R.A. = 8h35m02.2s, Decl. = -8d20m13s, equinox 2000.0) at a redshift of cz = 12784 +/- 63 km/s, from which the maximum absorption in the Si II line (rest 635.5 nm) is measured to be blueshifted by roughly 10000 km/s.
