Chornock, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 440-940 nm), obtained on Feb. 16 UT with the Keck II 10-m telescope (+ DEIMOS), shows that 2007W (cf. CBET 844) is a type-II supernova. Hydrogen Balmer lines having P-Cyg profiles are present, although the emission component of H-alpha greatly dominates over the main absorption component. Removing a recession velocity of 2902 km/s (Ragaigne et al. 2003, A.Ap. 408, 465), the minimum of the H-alpha absorption is blueshifted by 7400 km/s. There is a second absorption blueshifted by 13800 km/s, similar to that seen in SN 1999em at day 7 (Leonard et al. 2002, PASP 114, 35).
