Banerjee, Physical Research Laboratory, report that near-infrared JHK spectroscopy of V1280 Sco, obtained with the Mt. Abu 1.2-m telescope (+ PRL Near-Infrared NICMOS3 Imager/Spectrometer) on Feb. 26.97 UT, shows that the H I lines seen in absorption earlier (IAUC 8809) are now prominently seen in emission. These recent spectra, apart from the H I Brackett and Paschen lines, display several strong C I emission lines. Some of the prominent C I features are seen at 1.133, 1.1669, 1.1754, 1.1895, 1.2601, 1.689, and 1.9727 microns. Additional visual magnitude estimates: Feb. 22.155 UT, 5.0 (J. G. de S. Aguiar, Campinas, Brazil); 23.150, 5.1 (Aguiar); 25.250, 5.2 (W. Souza, Santos, Brazil); 27.476, 5.7 (J. D. West, Mulvane, KS, U.S.A.).
