IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html VARIABLE STAR IN URSA MAJOR Further to IAUC 8813, D. R. Madison and W. Li report observations of a variable star found in the field of PGC 43240 on unfiltered KAIT images taken on Mar. 3.43 (at mag 16.4), 4.43 (mag 16.1), and 6.42 UT (mag 16.5). The variable star is located at R.A. = 12h47m54s.45, Decl. = +54o00'37".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 130" west and 47" south of the center of the galaxy PGC 43240. A KAIT image taken on Jan. 31.52 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag 19.1). There is a faint star (or compact galaxy) at this location on a red Digitized Sky Survey image.
