Orff (Shenandoah, PA, U.S.A.) reports the discovery with J. Newton (Osoyoos, BC, Canada) of an apparent supernova (mag 15.8) on a CCD image (limiting mag 19.4) taken remotely with a 0.50-m reflector at Ellijay, GA, on June 21.345 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search; 2007cq was confirmed at mag 15.9 by Orff on June 22.275. The new object is located at R.A. = 22h14m40s.43, Decl. = +5o04'48".9 (equinox 2000.0), which is 3".3 west and 5".7 north of the center of the apparent host galaxy. Nothing is visible at this location on images taken by Puckett on 2002 June 18.30 (limiting mag 19.0), 2007 Apr. 30.38 (limiting mag 17.5), and May 24.35 (limiting mag 17.1).
