Benetti, E. Cappellaro, and F. Sabbadin, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova; and W. Boschin, Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG), report that a spectrum of 2007cs (cf. CBET 986), obtained on June 27.11 UT with the 3.5-m TNG (+ DOLORES; range 380-930 nm, resolution 1.3 nm), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova with very high expansion velocity. The best fit to this spectrum found by the "PASSparToo" supernova- spectra-comparison tool (Harutyunyan et al. 2005, ASP Conf. Ser. 342, 258) is with that of the type-Ia supernova 1997bp at 19 days after maximum. In the spectrum, a strong Na I D interstellar absorption doublet (equivalent width approximately 0.27 nm) is found in the host- galaxy restframe, suggesting some dust extinction.
