Ganeshalingam, F. J. D. Serduke, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 340-1000 nm), obtained on Aug. 14 UT with the 3-m Shane telescope (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that 2007go (CBET 1028) is a type-Ib supernova, very roughly 1 week past maximum brightness. He I absorption lines are probably present, and there is a reasonably good resemblance to the spectrum of the type-Ib supernova 1998dt (cf. IAUC 7006, 7011) taken 8 days past maximum (Matheson et al. 2001, A.J. 121, 1648), though it is still possible that 2007go is of type Ic. There is a weak absorption line that might be H-alpha, indicating an expansion velocity of about 15000 km/s. The recession velocity of the host galaxy, determined from the narrow emission lines of a superposed H II region, is 6900 km/s.
