Ciabattari, Lucca, Italy, report their discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag about 18.5) taken with a 0.30-m reflector on Nov. 27.90 (at mag about 17.5) and 28.70 UT (mag about 17.4). The new object, designated 2007ru, is located at R.A. = 23h07m23s.14, Decl. = +43o35'33".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 5" east and 41" south of the nucleus of the galaxy UGC 12381. Inspection of Palomar Sky Survey red and blue plates showed nothing at the position of the apparent supernova (no limiting magnitude provided). D. Winslow and W. Li report their independent discovery of 2007ru at mag 16.2 on unfiltered KAIT images (cf. CBET 1148) taken on Nov. 30.15, with the position end figures of 2007ru given as 23s.19, 34".1, which is 4".4 east and 39".8 south of the nucleus of UGC 12381; a KAIT image taken on Nov. 22.16 showed nothing at this location (limiting mag 18.9).
