Electronic Telegram No. 1373 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html NO NEW VARIABLE IN CANES VENATICI S. Benetti, M. Turatto and H. Navasardyan, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, clarify the situation regarding observations made at Asiago by S. Benatti of the presumed variable in CVn that was reported on CBET 1370. No new object is seen in a unfiltered image obtained on May 9.89 UT with the 1.82-m telescope (limiting mag 20-21). However, the observer still obtained a 45-min spectrogram of the area around the reported position, revealing no sign of a stellar spectrum and only a faint continuum consistent with the light coming from the visible galaxy.
