Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.1 +/- 0.3) on unfiltered CCD images taken on May 26.761 UT (and confirmed at mag 17.0 on May 28.696). The new object is located at R.A. = 9h55m08s.97, Decl. = -33o08'05".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 1" east and 8" north of the core of the galaxy IC 2522. Nothing is visible at this position on Monard's image from May 5.780 (limiting mag 18.8) or on a Digitized Sky Survey image (limiting red mag 20.5). The type-II supernova 2008br (cf. CBET 1332, 1335) also appeared in IC 2522. NOTE: These 'Central Bureau Electronic Telegrams' are sometimes superseded by text appearing later in the printed IAU Circulars.
