SUPERNOVA 2008ex IN UGC 11428
     V. Stanishev, Centro Multidisciplinar de Astrofisica, Instituto
Superior Tecnico, Lisbon, reports that a spectrum of 2008ex (cf. CBET 1470),
obtained on Aug. 19.08 UT by A. Somero with the Nordic Optical Telescope (+
ALFOSC), shows it to be a young type-II supernova.  The spectrum consists
of a blue featureless continuum with a superimposed broad, shallow H-alpha
P-Cyg profile -- the minimum of which is blue-shifted by 17000 to 19000 km/s
(host-galaxy recession velocity 3945 km/s, from Springob et al. 2005, Ap.J.
Suppl. 160, 149).
