Puckett, Ellijay, GA, U.S.A.; and R. Gagliano, Cottonwood, AZ, U.S.A., report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 16.9) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 19.6) taken with a 0.60-m reflector at Ellijay on Oct. 4.40 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 16.8 on images (limiting mag 19.3) taken by T. Orff on Oct. 5.21 with a 0.60-m reflector at Ellijay. SN 2008gb is located at R.A. = 2h57m57s.13, Decl. = +46o51'56".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4".7 east and 6".7 south of the center of UGC 2427. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on 2007 Feb. 22 (limiting mag 19.2).
