Electronic Telegram No. 1702 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVAE 2009ag, 2009ah, AND 2009ai N. Morrell and M. Stritzinger, on behalf of the Carnegie Supernova Project, report that they have obtained spectra (range 380-923 nm) of 2009ag (cf. CBET 1698), 2009ah (cf. CBET 1699), and 2009ai (cf. CBET 1700) on Feb. 23 UT with the Las Campanas Observatory's 2.5-m du Pont telescope. The spectrum of 2009ag reveals it to be a young type-Ia supernova around a week before maximum light; adopting a host-galaxy recession velocity of 2590 km/s (Thereau et al. 2007, A.Ap. 465, 71) for the host galaxy (ESO 492-2), Si II (635.5-nm) is measured to be blue-shifted by roughly 10500 km/s. SN 2009ah appears to be a type-IIb supernova around two weeks past maximum; cross- correlation with a library of supernovae spectra (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows 2009ah to be very similar to SN 2000H between 11 and 13 days after maximum. A spectrogram of 2009ai shows it to be a type-Ia supernova several weeks after maximum.
