T. Puckett, Ellijay, GA, U.S.A.; R. Gagliano, Cottonwood, AZ, U.S.A.; and J. Newton, Portal, AZ, U.S.A., report the independent discovery of 2009do at mag 16.8 on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 19.1) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal on Apr. 23.27 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 16.8 on images (limiting mag 19.2) taken by T. Orff on Apr. 24.21 with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal. They measure the position of SN 2009do as R.A. = 12h34m58s.32, Decl. = +50o51'04".0 (equinox 2000.0), which is 9".9 west and 0".5 south of the center of NGC 4537. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on 2009 Apr. 9 (limiting mag 18.8). J. Nicolas, Vallauris, France, reports that his CCD image taken on Apr. 24.871 UT with a 0.28-m f/6.5 reflector yields red mag 17.1 and position end figures 58s.35, 04".1.
