Andreuzzi, Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG); F. Bufano and S. Benetti, INAF, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, report that a spectrogram (range 350-780 nm, resolution 1.1 nm) of 2009ee (cf. CBET 1795), obtained on May 13.98 UT with the TNG (+ DOLORES), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova about two weeks after maximum. Assuming a recession velocity of 10504 km/s (Smith et al. 2000, MNRAS 313, 469; via NED) for the host galaxy, the "GELATO" spectrum-comparison code (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383; publicly available at https://gelato.tng.iac.es) provides good fits to spectra of type-Ia supernovae 2004eo (Pastorello et al. 2007, MNRAS 377, 1531) and 2005cf (Garavini et al. 2007, A.Ap. 471, 527) at 11 and 13 days after maximum, respectively. The fit with the SN 2004eo spectrum can be seen at the following URL: https://gelato.tng.iac.es/plots/plot_7NQfdJZTQ811.png. The expansion velocity deduced from the Si II 635.5-nm absorption component is about 9500 km/s.
