Jacques, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, reports the discovery by C. Colesanti, E. Pimentel, T. Napoleao, and himself of an apparent supernova (mag 14.6) on an unfiltered CCD image (limiting magnitude 18.5) taken on May 27.07 UT with a 0.30-m Schmidt-Cassegrain f/3 reflector at the CEAMIG-REA Observatory in the course of their survey. A confirming image on May 27.99 shows 2009ev at mag 14.7. The new object is located at R.A. = 13h14m17s.58, Decl. = -42o58'48".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 45" east and 78" south of the center of the galaxy NGC 5026. Nothing is visible at this position on a CCD image taken on 2003 Apr. 5 (limiting magnitude 19.0) or on a red Digitized Sky Survey image of from 1991 Mar. 25.
