Electronic Telegram No. 1846 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVAE 2009fv AND 2009gf A. Somero, O. Smirnova, G. Micheva, J. Kajava, E. Kankare, J. Telting, R. Karjalainen, and S. Mattila, on behalf of the NORDFORSK/Nordic-Baltic astronomy summer school; and A. Pastorello, Queen's University, Belfast, report that they obtained low-resolution spectra of 2009fv (cf. CBET 1834) and 2009gf (cf. CBET 1844) on June 15.9 UT with the Nordic Optical Telescope (+ ALFOSC; range 320-910 nm). The spectrum of 2009fv shows it to be a type-Ia supernova around maximum light; adopting a host-galaxy recession velocity of 8784 km/s (Wegner et al. 1999, MNRAS 305, 259), the Si II 635.5-nm absorption minimum is measured to be blue-shifted by roughly 10400 km/s. The spectrum of 2009gf shows it to be also a type-Ia supernova a few days before maximum; adopting a host-galaxy recession velocity of 5553 km/s (de Vaucouleurs et al. 1991, Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies, ver. 3.9), the Si II 635.5-nm absorption minimum is measured to be blue-shifted by roughly 10500 km/s.
