Cobb, W. Li, J. M. Silverman, R. Chornock, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of CCD spectra (range 340-1070 nm), obtained on July 28 UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that 2009ho (CBET 1886) in UGC 1941 is a type-Ia supernova about two weeks after maximum light. Cross- correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the SuperNova IDentification code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) finds a best match with SN 2002cx at 10 days, but the low-S/N ratio of the spectrum precludes a definitive identification with the 2002cx-like subclass of supernovae (Li et al. 2003, PASP, 115, 453). Further observations of 2009ho are encouraged, and including a redshift determination for the host. Also, 2009hn (CBETs 1886, 1887) in UGC 2005 is confirmed to be a normal type-Ia supernova; cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using SNID indicates that 2009hn is about four weeks after maximum light. SN 2009hp (CBET 1888) is a normal type-Ia supernova; cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using SNID indicates that 2009hp near maximum light. P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that a spectrum (range 360-750 nm) of 2009hp in MCG +01-08-30, obtained on July 29 UT by M. Calkins with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-Ia supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the SNID code indicates that 2009hp is a normal-Ia supernova about a week before maximum brightness.
