Conuel, Wesleyan University; and D. Reichart, K. Ivarsen, A. Crain, D. Foster, M. Nysewander and A. LaCluyze, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, on behalf of the CHASE project, report the discovery of an apparent supernova in MCG -01-13-033 on a unfiltered image taken on Aug. 5 with the 0.41-m "PROMPT 5" telescope at the Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory. The candidate supernova is located at R.A. = 4h53m18s.03 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -03d00'59".6 +/- 0".1 (equinox J2000.0), which is about 9".6 east and 23".2 south of center of the galaxy. Approximate magnitudes are Aug. 5.38 UT, 14.8 +/- 0.2; 10.34, 14.9 +/- 0.2. Nothing is visible at the location on archival images taken on Feb. 4.11 (limiting mag 18.0) and Jan. 16.14 (limiting mag 18.0).
