IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html NOVA OPHIUCHI 2009 K. Ayani and N. Murakami, Bisei Astronomical Observatory (BAO); K. Hata, Okayama Shoka University High School; A. Tanaka and M. Tachibana, Okayama Sozan Senior High School; and A. Kanda, Okayama Ichinomiya Senior High School, report that low-resolution spectra (range 450-800 nm; resolution 0.5 nm at H-alpha) of the apparent nova reported on CBET 1910 were obtained with the BAO 1.01-m telescope on Aug. 17.6 UT, in the course of the BAO Summer School and Japan Space Forum. The spectra show broad and prominent H-alpha emission, whose FWHM and equivalent width are about 8000 km/s and 49 nm, respectively, upon a red continuum. A broad H-beta emission line also is visible.
