Kleiser, S. B. Cenko, W. Li, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, report the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images: SN 2009 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Sollerman, Dark Cosmology Centre, Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen University, report on spectroscopy of 2009ie obtained with the Nordic Optical Telescope (+ ALFOSC; range 360-850 nm, resolution 1.5 nm) on Aug. 19.23 UT by M. Friis, B. Gullberg, J. Mortensen, and M. Strandet (students at Copenhagen University). The reduced spectrum of 2009ie displays numerous strong P-Cyg profiles, and cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code of Blondin and Tonry (2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows it to be a type-IIP supernova about 1-3 months past maximum.
