Bufano, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova; and M. Turatto, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Catania, report that spectra of SNe 2009if (cf. CBET 1916) and 2009it (cf. CBET 1933) were obtained with the New Technology Telescope (+ EFOSC2; range 340-740 nm, resolution 2.2 nm). Comparisons of the observed spectra with a library of supernova spectra was performed with the "GELATO" code (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383, available at https://gelato.tng.iac.es/login.cgi). A spectrum of SN 2009it, acquired on Sept. 15.06 UT, shows strong resemblance to those of the underluminous type-Ia supernova 2005bl (Taubenberger et al. 2008, MNRAS 385, 75) at about three weeks after maximum light. The spectrum of 2009if, obtained on Sept. 15.25, shows similarities with type-Ib/c supernovae at about two weeks after maximum light.
