The new object is located at R.A. = 13h30m10s.54, Decl. = +80o30'26".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 31" east and 18" north of the center of UGC 8520. A. Oksanen, Muurame, Finland, reports that he obtained a confirming 60-s unfiltered CCD image (limiting mag 19.9) of 2009iy on Sept. 19.848 with a 40-cm reflector, finding the new object at mag 18.5 with position end figures 10s.60, 27".1; he has posted his image at the following website URL: http://murtoinen.dyndns.org:8888/ccd/Arto/ugc8520.jpg.
