Stritzinger, Las Campanas Observatory; and G. Folatelli, Universidad de Chile, on behalf of the Carnegie Supernova Project and the Millennium Center for Supernova Science, report that they obtained an optical spectrogram of supernova 2009fr (cf. CBET 1827) on Sept. 12.1 UT with the Gemini South telescope (+ GMOS). The spectrum reveals that this is an old type-IIP supernova. With the aid of the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), 2009fr is found to be most similiar to the type-IIP supernova 1992H around 260 days past explosion.
