Rich, Hampden, ME, U.S.A., reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.3) on unfiltered CCD frames taken with a 0.41-m reflector on Nov. 12.14 UT, with a confirming image obtained on Nov. 13.05 (mag about 17.2). The new object is located at R.A. = 4h04m35s.97, Decl. = +33o17'27".0 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 10".5 west and 0".2 south of the center of UGC 2944. Nothing is visible at this location on a CCD frame taken by Rich on Sept. 7.29 (limiting mag about 18.8) or on Palomar Digital Sky Survey images from 1993 Sept. 16 (limiting red mag about 20.5) and 1988 Oct. 7 (limiting blue mag about 21.0).
