Africa, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (magnitude 17.7 +/- 0.4) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on Nov. 14.785 UT; it was confirmed on Nov. 15.738 at mag 17.9 (+/- 0.3). The new object is located at R.A. = 21h36m50s.46, Decl. = -46o57'33".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 10" west and 18" north of the core of a galaxy that lies about 7 arcmin to the northwest of ESO 287-G40. Nothing is visible at this position in Digitized Sky Survey (limiting red mag 20.5) or on Monard's previous image of this galaxy taken at his Bronberg Observatory on Oct. 8.769 (limiting mag 18.8).
