Banerjee, Physical Research Laboratory, report near-infrared J-, H-, and K-band spectroscopy of the nova V496 Sct (cf. IAUCs 9093, 9097) obtained with the Mt. Abu 1.2-m telescope (+ PRLNear-Infrared NICMOS3 Imager/Spectrometer). The interesting aspect of this nova is the detection of first overtone of carbon monoxide in emission reported by Rudy et al. on IAUC 9099. The preliminary reduction of these Mt. Abu observations, spanning the period Dec. 3.55-8.55 UT, clearly shows that the emission phase of carbon monoxide is still persisting. In addition, the carbon lines are also very strong (cf. IAUC 9099). Additional visual magnitude estimates (cf. IAUC 9097): Nov. 28.705 UT, 7.6 (W. Vollmann, Vienna, Austria); 2.690, 7.5 (M. Lehky, Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic); 2.690, 7.8 (Vollmann); 3.677, 7.9 (Lehky).
