Electronic Telegram No. 2082 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2009mi IN IC 2151 K. Kinugasa, S. Honda, H. Takahashi, H. Taguchi, and O.Hashimoto, Gunma Astronomical Observatory (GAO), write that a low-resolution spectrum (range 420-800 nm, resolution 1.0 nm) of SN 2009mi (cf. CBET 2077), obtained on Dec. 16.5 UT with the GAO 1.5-m telescope (+ GLOWS), shows it to be a type-Ic supernova near maximum light. Comparison with a library of spectra via the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2009mi is most nearly similar to SN 2004aw at about two days after maximum.
