Electronic Telegram No. 2158 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. Stritzinger, Carnegie Observatories, reports that three spectra of SN 2009mg (cf. CBET 2071, 2077), obtained with the Gemini South Telescope (+ GMOS) on Jan. 6.2, 7.2, and 18.2 UT, reveal that this object was misclassified for a second time on CBET 2093 by Roming et al. SN 2006mg is clearly a normal type-IIb event and not a broad-line type-Ic supernova. Comparison with a library of supernova spectra (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) suggests that this object is most similiar to supernovae 1996cb and 1993J.
