Electronic Telegram No. 2178 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Agnoletto, Universita Degli Studi di Padova; F. Bufano and S. Benetti, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, report that a spectrogram of 2010ac (cf. CBET 2174), obtained on Feb. 20.32 UT with the European Southern Observatory's New Technology Telescope (+ EFOSC2; range 394-747 nm; resolution 1.6 nm), shows it to be a type-Ic supernova at about 25 days from maximum. Assuming a recession velocity of 5071 km/s (from Willmer et al. 1991, A.J. 101, 57; via NED, http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu), the comparison of the observed spectrum with a library of supernova spectra via the "GELATO" code (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383, available at website URL https://gelato.tng.iac.es/login.cgi) shows strong resemblance to those of supernovae 1997B and 1997ei at 25 days after maximum.
