Rich, Hampden, ME, U.S.A., reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.8) on unfiltered CCD frames taken with a 0.41-m reflector on Mar. 13.03 UT, with a confirming image obtained on Mar. 16.07 (at mag about 16.4). The new object is located at R.A. = 8h14m15s.91, Decl. = +18o26'18".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 9".5 west and 8".1 south of the center of UGC 4286. Nothing is visible at this position on a CCD frame taken by Rich on Feb. 7.12 (limiting mag about 18.8) or on Palomar Digital Sky Survey images from 1997 Mar. 7 (limiting red mag about 20.5) and 1995 Nov. 29 (limiting blue mag about 21.0).
