Orff reports that J. Newton and T. Puckett have discovered an apparent supernova (mag 17.4) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 18.7) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, AZ, U.S.A., on July 4.41 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object, which was confirmed at mag 17.4 on images (limiting mag 19.3) taken by T. Orff with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, is located at R.A. = 23h03m43s.29, Decl. = -7o13'54".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 7".6 west and 24".8 south of the center of MCG -01-58-15.
