Boles, Coddenham, England, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.5) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on Aug. 24.007 UT with a 0.35-m reflector. The new object (which was confirmed at V magnitude 17.6 on Aug. 24.502 remotely using a 0.61-m Cassegrain reflector at the Sierra Stars Observatory, Alpine County, California; image limiting mag 20.5), is located at R.A. = 3h07m01s.66, Decl. = +46o37'20".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is approximately 31".3 west and 4".3 north of the center of UGC 2537. Nothing is present at this position on Boles's images from Mar. 2 and Aug. 5 (limiting mag 19.5) or on Digitized Sky Survey plates from 1989 Oct. 5 (limiting red mag 20.5) and 1989 Sept. 8 (limiting blue mag 21.0).
