Narla, S. B. Cenko, W. Li, and A. V. Filippenko report the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images: SN 2011 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset 2011E Jan. 7.08 0 26 19.23 - 4 29 42.4 15.8 28".1 E, 11".2 S Additional KAIT magnitudes for 2011E: 2010 Nov. 29.22 UT, [18.8; 2011 Jan. 8.09 UT, 15.7. G. H. Marion and P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, report that a spectrum (range 340-740 nm) was obtained of 2011E on Jan. 9 UT by P. Berlind with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). The spectrum is very blue, and the features are weak. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows that 2011E is a type-II supernova near maximum light.
