Electronic Telegram No. 2639 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Green; Hoffman Lab 209; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu (alternate cbat@iau.org) URL http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/index.html Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network SUPERNOVA 2010kv IN UGC 4216 S. B. Cenko, W. Li, University of California, Berkeley, F. Bian, and N. Smith, University of Arizona, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range 350-800 nm), obtained on Jan. 12 UT with the Blue Spectrograph mounted on the 6.5-m MMT, reveals that SN 2010kv (CBET 2596) is a type-II supernova. Cross- correlation with a library of supernova spectra (using the "SuperNova IDentification" code; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2010kv most closely resembles the type-IIP supernova 2006bp at several months past maximum light.
