Puckett and R. Gagliano report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.0) on an unfiltered CCD frame taken with the 0.60-m automated supernova patrol telescope on Apr. 28.25 UT. The new object was confirmed at mag 17.0 on CCD frames taken by T. Crowley (Chiefland, FL, 0.30-m reflector) on Apr. 29.21. SN 2005bw is located at R.A. = 13h33m29s.73, Decl. = +33o02'27".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 8".7 east and 4".8 south of the center of UGC 8539. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on 2002 Apr. 16 and 2003 Mar. 10 (limiting mag about 20.0). SN 1999cf also appeared in this galaxy (cf. IAUC 7178).
